Summary

Funding is available for initiatives that support young adults by addressing key needs such as trauma-informed care, reducing discrimination and hate crime, promoting social inclusion, strengthening community connections, and aiding transitions to independent living. Activities may include mentoring, life skills training, job readiness, culturally sensitive interventions, and innovative approaches to improve engagement, resilience, and reduce reoffending. Proposals can also tackle barriers like neurodiversity, educational gaps, and low maturity, while encouraging access to probation and community resources.

Grants are to deliver targeted activities that support young adults within West Midlands Probation Service region. Priority coverage areas and indicative annual funding allocations for each LOT are as follows: 

·       Lot 1 - Birmingham – indicative Grant Funding £50,000 for a 12-month period

·       Lot 2 - Sandwell and Dudley – indicative Grant Funding £25,000 for a 12-month period

·        Lot 3 - Walsall and Wolverhampton – indicative Grant Funding £25,000 for a 12- month period

The objectives of the scheme is to:

·       improve young people’s engagement in, and experience of, probation and other rehabilitative activities;

·       support an young individual’s rehabilitation and desistance journey; and to improve HMPPS’ knowledge of which activities work to support young people and to encourage rehabilitation and desistance.
